Johnny,

Week 16
I came by to see you this morning. It's been a few days since I've visited because I've been sick. I would hate to be the reason you don't get your pump! I came in and you just seemed like you were tired. I washed your hair, cleaned your ears, teeth and mouth. Julie (your speech therapist) came in and said Good morning Johnny. You said, "goo morr". We both dropped our mouths. That was not expected!
It was extremely difficult to get you to wake up so Jerry (your PT) came in and put bags of ice down the front of your shirt and on the back of your neck. You took your right hand and removed the ice from your shirt. It took some doing but you finally got it out on your own. Jerry moved you from your bed to the chair. You were holding onto the chair and I said good job Johnny, give me a high five. You let go of the chair and gave me a high five. Super! Jerry banged on a metal pipe and you looked in the direction of the loud noise. That was good to see. Julie worked on getting you to say ahhhh and ooooh. Julie asked you if your throat hurt and you pointed to no. I asked you if you wanted me to tell Jackie hi and you pointed to yes. Jerry left Julie and I alone to work with you and after an hour, Julie left me alone to work with you until Jerry got back. During that time, you removed pegs from the peg board, wiped your face with a rag and we stretched your arms out. After that, I felt like it was a good time to ask you some questions that I've been wondering about. I felt like you were saved and Jackie told me that she asked you once and you said that you were. But, I wanted to know for myself. I asked you to raise a finger if you knew who Jesus was. You did. I said raise a finger if you know that Jesus died on the cross for our sins. You did. I said raise a finger if you know that when you die you will go to heaven. You did. I started crying. You just looked into my eyes like why are you crying? I really felt like you were but having you confirm it for me was so great!

Jackie has a choir concert tonight at 7pm. She's pretty nervous but I know she'll do great!

Love you Johnny! xo Jen
